PNG to JPG online

PNG files are often much larger than they need to be for photographs and screenshots. Converting to JPG usually cuts the size dramatically, which makes files easier to email, upload or attach.

How to use png to jpg

  1. Add your PNG files

Drop in one or more .png images.

  2. Choose a quality level

Around 85% keeps the image looking sharp while making the file much smaller.

  3. Convert

Each PNG is redrawn and encoded as a JPG in your browser.

  4. Download

Save your JPGs individually or all at once.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG cannot store transparency, so any transparent region has to be filled with a solid colour. This tool fills it with white by default, which suits most screenshots and logos.

How much smaller will the JPG be?

For photographs and detailed screenshots, expect the file to shrink by 70–90%. For simple graphics with large flat areas of colour, PNG is already efficient and the saving will be smaller.

Does converting lose quality?

Yes, slightly — JPG is a lossy format. At quality 85 the difference is very difficult to see. Text and sharp edges suffer more than photographs do, so keep the quality high for screenshots.

Should I use JPG or PNG?

Use JPG for photographs and anything where a small file matters. Use PNG when you need transparency, perfectly crisp text and lines, or a lossless copy for further editing.

Are my files stored anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved.
