Image Cropper

Crop your image to exactly the part you want.

Everything is processed on your device. Nothing you upload or type is sent to a server, and nothing is stored.

Image Cropper online

Drag a selection over your image and everything outside it is removed. Lock the shape to a square for a profile picture, or 16:9 for a video thumbnail, and drag the handles until the framing looks right.

How to use image cropper

  1. Add an image

Drop in a JPG, PNG or WebP file.

  2. Drag out your selection

Drag across the image to draw a crop area, then drag the corner handles to fine-tune it.

  3. Lock a ratio if you need one

Choose square, 16:9, 4:3 or 3:2 and the selection keeps that shape as you resize it.

  4. Crop and download

The exact pixel dimensions are shown before you save.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping reduce quality?

The pixels you keep are untouched. Saving as PNG is completely lossless; saving as JPG re-encodes them, which is invisible at high quality settings.

What size should a profile picture be?

Square, and at least 400 × 400 pixels for most platforms. Lock the ratio to 1:1 here, then use Resize Image if you need an exact pixel size.

Which ratio should I use for a video thumbnail?

16:9 — that is what YouTube, Vimeo and most video players expect. A 4:3 or square thumbnail gets letterboxed with black bars.

Can I crop several images at once?

No, and deliberately so: the right crop is different for every picture, so this tool works on one image at a time. For batch changes that do not need framing decisions, use Resize Image.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Cropping happens on your device and nothing is sent anywhere.
